My PR Work Experience…
in PR Careers
University student, Lucia, completed work experience with us at Reflection PR and here’s her story telling you all about her experience…
Having completed my second year at Bournemouth University, the hunt for work experience began. Exciting but scary times ahead, what if I ended up disliking what I’d chosen to do for the rest of my life?
My time at Reflection PR has only emphasised my love for PR and communications and made me even more excited for the future.
In order to graduate, I had to undertake at least four weeks of work experience at a company of my choice and Reflection was perfect for me. Suzy, the Managing Director, and Daniella, the Digital PR Executive were kind enough to put together an itinerary for me ready for my first day. However, as I was soon to find out, that would all change.
Having turned 21 the day before I started, it all hit me about how I was a grown up now and was about to have a taste of my first ‘proper’ job.
After the first of many production meetings, I soon realised that the ‘fluffy and easy-going’ PR myths are just that. I’ve come to fully understand and appreciate the amount of time and hard work that goes into the PR industry.
I was given so much more responsibility than I anticipated, from proof reading award entries, to writing blogs and press releases to everything else in-between.
It’s true what they say, there is never a dull moment working in this industry. But it is so rewarding seeing your work published and getting great feedback from clients makes the deadlines all worthwhile.
I’m so glad that I got to experience my first real taste of PR with the team, who have only made me realise that this type of work is exactly what I imagine myself doing in the future.
I would like to thank Reflection PR for making me feel such a valued part of the team for the past month and emphasise again just how great working here was. I’m so excited for the future and hope that our paths cross again soon!
