North Norfolk is set to welcome internationally acclaimed musicians Rachel Podger and Maggie Cole who will be performing at Raynham Recitals on Saturday 17th September at Raynham Hall.
Rachel Podger has established herself as a leading interpreter of the Baroque and Classical periods “queen of the Baroque violin” and has recently been shortlisted for the 2016 Gramophone Classical Music Awards.
Maggie Cole is internationally acclaimed for her performances and recordings on harpsichord, fortepiano and piano, notably Bach’s Goldberg Variations for harpsichord on the Virgin Classics label.Raynham Recitals guests will be able to picnic – weather permitting – on the south lawn of the historic house or book seats for dinner in the State Dining Rooms. Raynham’s very own Grand Cru Champagne will also be available.
Charles Townshend, the eighth Marquess Townshend and his wife Alison, Lady Townshend, have devoted the past four years to repairing and restoring Raynham Hall’s exquisite William Kent decor and many fine works of art. The money raised from the recitals will go towards the restoration of the latter; one example being the restoration of the unique oil paintings of Charles I’s youngest daughters Princess Elizabeth and Princess Henrietta.
The September recitals take place at 6:30pm on Saturday 17th September in the Marble Hall. With tickets costing £50 per person, Rachel and Maggie have chosen the following programme:
