5 reasons why features are good for your business

in News

We aim to make businesses famous and one way we do this is through writing features.

Magazine

A feature is an article in a magazine or newspaper that is written to inform the reader on a particular subject.

They are focussed on telling a story, are often much longer in length than news releases and are written in a more informal way.

Features are a good PR tool for effective communication, making a great addition to your PR campaign.

Here are our five top reasons why writing features should be on your PR things to do list:-

1) Credibility. As you do not pay directly to place a feature, your message is communicated in a subtle, engaging and conversational way.

2) Target your audience. You can place features in genre specific magazines so you have a targeted audience and know what interests them.

3) Position you as a thought leader. Features provide an opportunity to showcase your knowledge and give people an insight into your industry. Features allow you to provide top tips and advice to readers, positioning you as a leader.

4) Variety is the spice of life. Features are a creative alternative to press releases, getting you in media you may not have reached.

5) Cost effective. Unlike advertising where you pay for space in a publication, features give you ‘free’ editorial space. The only cost is the time and fee of your PR agency, which is often much cheaper than advertising.

We love writing features and recently secured coverage for one of our finance clients in a leading trade magazine. This was published in print and online reaching an audience of 57,000 people. Advertising in this publication would have cost £1,627 but we secured coverage for a quarter of this price.
